Ha Ha, I just did the same thing....!!
I did battery off, battery tray out, air box and Maf out of the way and leads off, then dicovered I need a set of hex sockets....!!
Found a great set Seally set on Amazon for £15 - great reviews too so hopefully that will be here in a couple of days so I can carry on removing the starter.

Just dug out a set of allen keys and cut myself up multiple times, and struggled like fcuk
Our road is private so just blagged up and down a couple of times to free the brakes a bit
