As far as I'm aware the tubby only came in Executive and SRi trim, and I'm pretty sure that means it was only sold with AC

the executive was A/C only but on servicebox they do list the turbo engine without A/C, and auto data has 2 diagrams for belt routing again one wit A/C one without, but how the tensiopner works on the A/C model there is no way of making it work without the A/C pump, this engine is actually goin in a 306GTi-6 running the 6 speed box and if i can avoid having to put an A/C pump in i will

I'm guessing the XU10J2TE may have come on other trim levels outside the UK, seeing as "Executive, SRi, etc" seem to be very UK-centric", so your best bet in this country may be to have a dig around and see if the 306 had it without AC.

There's always the option of getting a new one from the dealers....
