Anyway, back to the 406. Can anybody give me a rough idea on how much it'd be worth (just in case this guy decides he really wants it) or if anybody is interested? Having looked on Autotrader HDis with less than 100k aren't totally scarce, but they do seem to command a bit of a premium although I do know from experience that when traders get their little guide books out they're pretty quick to use the mileage adjustment charts to knock £ off a high miler, but they don't even bother when the miles are low.
She is a 2000/X plate (so doesn't get the cheap emissions tax, but is on the older tax bracket which means it's a fairly stable price) with less than 88k, 13 months MOT & 12 months tax. Service history is sketchy up to the time I bought it, but the odd bits I have from the previous owner support the low mileage & I have all receipts from work I've had done.
Since I've owned her she's had:
New centre exhaust (last year)
Cambelt, water pump, aux belt & bottom pulley (last year)
New rear brake caliper & new rear pads (this year)
Air con serviced & regassed (this year)
& a full service with the MOT both years.
Jobs I've done are:
Fixed the brake switch under the centre console that gives that annoying BRAKE FLUID LOW LEVEL warning when you lift the handbrake.
Changed coolant sensor
Fitted coupe front strut brace
Removed vinyl from door pillars - a couple were ripped in places
Fitted leather coupe steering wheel
206 GTi shiny gearknob
Fitted electric half leather seats & leather door cards from an SE model - this also added a split folding rear seat as Family 7 seat models have a 1 piece bench as standard.
Changed lower dash from grey to black to match the new interior
Fitted recently refurbished uber rare Nautilus 16ins wheels (from the limited edition Silver & Black coupes), but I also have a very good set of 16ins Hoggar wheels that may go on instead.
Full window tinting all round - just below the legal limit on the front 2, but limo dark at the rear.
Genuine Peugeot rubber mats with an aftermarket set on top to keep them clean
Fitted non smoking kit - replaces the ashtray assembly with a useful storage cubby
Replaced drivers side rear door check strap
Only faults that I know of are:
puddle lights not working on the door cards - weren't standard LX kit, but found the wiring taped up when the SE cards were fitted, enabled on the BSI thanks to a kind member's time with his PP2000, but for some reason still don't work. Haven't fully investigated yet.
metal bases underneath the rear seat squabs are rusty - easy to replace & can show anybody how, just haven't been able to source any mint replacements yet as breakers tend to leave cars open to the elements so they end up with rusty bases too.
1 slightly foggy fog light - passed MOT as it is though & cleared a little when I took to leaving them on for a few weeks
& a couple of car park dents & marks here & there, but I am really fussy with my bodywork. This Beemer will have to be mint (with the exception of the bumpers) for me to replace the 406 with it.
For anybody unfamiliar with my car, here she is in all her glory:

& here's what she looked like on the Hoggar wheels:
