Withdrawn: Genuine Peugeot Spoiler for 406 D9 Saloon

Post by highlander »

Hello,

Owing to the impending demise of my old saloon, I thought maybe someone might like to take the official Peugeot spoiler off my hands, rather than letting it go to the scrapyard.

The Peugeot part number is 9715.1J, and it has been painted in China Blue, pearlescent (paint code EGED)

Here it is, attached to the car:

Fitting is simple - it clamps over the edge of your boot lid. The original fitting kit came with two thick bits of clear self-adhesive tape, which you wrap over the edge of the boot lit, and then you clamp the spoiler over the top of that. However, I got the spoiler 2nd-hand, and didn't have the film - I ended up using thick plastic tape, available on a roll like sellotape, but thicker than that. I don't know where the roll is anymore, but it cost me around £3 from an online stationery company. I probably have the fitting instruction booklet somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it out. But it is very easy to do.

Measurements:
Well, it's as wide as the car, really, and that's quoted as 1764 mm (69 inches).

I'll be honest - I have no idea what it's worth. I didn't pay much for it - around £30, if I recall correctly - though it cost me about £70 to get it painted. I also have no idea how much the shipping will be.

Make me an offer for it.

Cheers
Graeme

Crap, sorry Lozz, I have been away from the PC a fair bit.

If you haven't bought the one for £65 yet then you can have mine for a fair bit less than that! I'll reply to your PM.

Your paint code is on the information sticker on the drivers' A-pillar. Open the driver's door, look on the A-pillar and you'll see the sticker there. The paint code will be comprised of four letters, the last of which will be either B ("Varnished non-metallic"), C ("Varnished metallic") or D ("Pearlescent Lacquered").

I was hoping to find a photo of someone's paint code sticker, but for the life of me I can't find one. I'll try and get a snap of the sticker from my old saloon tomorrow (she'll be going to the scrappy shortly thereafter :()

Regrettably, I couldn't separate the spoiler from the bootlid, so it went to the scrappy still attached. The spoiler attaches to the boot lid by way of a pair of double-sided-self-adhesive gel pads, one at either end of the spoiler - you then tighten up two torx screws on the clamps at either end, which seals the deal and guarantees the spoiler is going nowhere.

After more than a year in-place, the gel pads have essentially turned into something approaching concrete in consistency. I was really struggling to get the thing off, to the point where I thought I'd crack the plastic on the spoiler. My attempts at cutting away at the gel using an old credit card were simply resulting in the boot lid itself becoming badly scratched, and was taking hours anyway.

I guess you could contact Overton Dismantlers in Aberdeen and ask for the boot lid spoiler from the 1999 Peugeot 406 LX saloon in China Blue they collected on Thursday - they're on 01224 722354, or e-mail them at [email protected] - however, don't be surprised if it has to arrive with a boot lid attached to it ;)
