Wanted: 2.2HDi 2001 brake pads
Hi all, I need new brake pads. I'd like them to be new, but also slightly used is fine.
My car is a 2001 saloon 2.2HDi. Please let me know the exact part number.
I need fronts, but also back could be useful in the future.
Mind they should be shipped to Ita.
Cheers!

Are they really that expensive in Italy? They're only going to be for the standard size 283mm discs

Re: Wanted: 2.2HDi 2001 brake pads
Nope, they aren't, but it's still cheaper to buy them from a member here most of the time. And I want good ones, ie genuine (preferably), green stuff, brembo or at least ferodo ones. Many sellers here just sell low quality cheap ones.steve_earwig wrote:Are they really that expensive in Italy? They're only going to be for the standard size 283mm discs

What about something like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FRONT-Brembo- ... 43a36d7e92
Postage from the UK is generally about 10 pounds to here for smaller stuff (up to about 3 kg I seem to recall) and that's giving me 14 pounds to here, which I'd think covers packing. (I can't check it for Italy as it's demanding a postal code...)
Genuine pads are probably Ferodo or similar, in a package with lions all over it for 5 to 10 times the price.

Re: Wanted: 2.2HDi 2001 brake pads
Genuine pads are Lucas, but general consensus over the local Coupé club is that the genuine pads are the best to use (someone in there tested it, can't recall). However of course brembos and similar are good too. Don't think brembo are the best of the best, like all they do great pads and mid range ones, which are not far in performance from genuine Peugeot, or even worse.steve_earwig wrote:OdinEidolon wrote:brembo![]()

If I get no offer I'll of course try ebay here, but since I have another 1500 miles before needing replacement I have time. I'm waiting for HmBigChief green stuff but he hasn't got much time right now, so I'm testing the water (I don't think this saying is right, actually)

There's nothing wrong with testing the water

No, I don't know why but on ebay italy the only current genuine pad for the 406 is a set for the rears, which I don't need.

Re: Wanted: 2.2HDi 2001 brake pads
I didn't think of trying "genuine" in ebay, there are two
Neither of which acknowledge the existence of any country outside the UK

Re: Wanted: 2.2HDi 2001 brake pads
I get 3 or 4 typing "genuine 406 front pads HDi" on ebay. Problem is it seems Peugeot has tens of different part numbers, it seems that the one correct for mine is 425132, but also correct seem to besteve_earwig wrote:I didn't think of trying "genuine" in ebay, there are twoNeither of which acknowledge the existence of any country outside the UK

Re: Wanted: 2.2HDi 2001 brake pads
That be the right code, my search for "peugeot 406 genuine front pad" brought up 5 I think, 3 of which were the wrong pad (either the 260mm or 305mm)OdinEidolon wrote:I get 3 or 4 typing "genuine 406 front pads HDi" on ebay. The only one of those numbers I can find is 425144 which is for a ZX, Xsara and Xsara II, 283mm disk but the calliper is a different number, so I wouldn't risk it. The pads even look different in the diagrams but they're generally a bit vague.but also correct seem to be
CITROEN/PEUGEOT: 425144, CITROEN/PEUGEOT: 425143, CITROEN/PEUGEOT: 425160, CITROEN/PEUGEOT: 425206

Re: Wanted: 2.2HDi 2001 brake pads
I really can't get my head around those part numbers, everyone seems to say different.
Original pads are 55€ for the front ones so not much expensive...
EDIT: nope, I think it's 70€...

Re: Wanted: 2.2HDi 2001 brake pads
Don't ask me, I'm crap at guessing the weight of stuff..
I've been to have a word with my mate in the car spares shop, he reckons 70€ is less than we could get you some here & send them through the post (especially if customs works out what they are...)
He says original equipment are TRW Lucas LUC GDB1194 - I have a sheet here with all the different part numbers for different manufacturers (Brembo, ATE, Valeo, Bosch etc.) which I can post if it's of any use.
His database also says these pads were fitted to the 406 and no other car.
