1.9TD SX Estate S-Reg

Post by Doggy »

My bro's faithful veg burner is looking for a new home.
Image
This picture is nearly 4 years old, so please note it's not this tidy anymore, having collected a few scrapes and dents.
The MOT's due on Sunday 26/05 and it's taxed to the end of the month.
He was in the process of preping it for the MOT when things went wrong. We changed both drop links, the front pads and the back box a week or two back, then found a hole in the n/s sill, just behind the front wheelarch. He's had this welded up, but it's not too pretty. He was in the process of swapping wheels to put some part-worn tyres on for the already booked MOT when the o/s/r jacking point, (which he had risked lifting with a small trolley jack), folded up.

He automatically assumed, without checking, this was a definite fail so cancelled the MOT and bought another 406, (a 110 HDi exec estate). Since then a few people have suggested it may still have passed, but we just don't know.

The car's done 173k but is still as fit as a butcher's dog. Everything works, apart from the aircon, (still gassed, compressor clutch burnt out), CD changer's dead, head unit works, but its display illumination doesn't. Don't expect a tidy example, it has its fair share of battle scars but is not an eyesore. He's a self-employed plumber, so it has doubled as the works van and his lurcher doesn't tend to towel off before getting in......

It has a towbar, had a new radiator, cambelt etc just before he got it, (roughly 4 years / 40k ago).

It has been very reliable, taking him to Scotland every year, S. of France twice most years and he runs it on about 80% filtered WVO / 20% diesel.

Looking for £250

I know from what you've said on here before Doggy that this motor is mechanically sound so will be a good buy for someone prepared give it some TLC. I don't think it would take much to turn it into a very cheap form of motoring 8)

Not that I particularly want to see another D8 go to heaven but I might be inclined to do one of those wheel nut auctions on ebay then weigh in what doesn't sell.
Not sure what scrap prices are at the minute but my old D8 gave me £180 on the bridge minus it's lights, mirrors and most of the dash which are currently in my spare parts pile in the shed.
