FOR SALE 2002 HDI90 Saloon

Post by simon2013 »

2002 PEUGEOT 406 GLX
1997cc HDI 90
Taxed until 31/10/2013
MOT until 20/09/2014
Current mileage 130,581

For sale is my Peugeot 406. I have owned this car since October 2009, I am the second owner since new.

The car has a brand new (July – Aug 2013) head gasket, water pump and gates timing belt & tensioner.
2 good rear tyres (Continental EcoContact approx. 6mm on each), 2 OK front tyres (Enduro approx. 3mm on each)
Full service history and all receipts. Oil changed every 8,000 miles since I have owned the car.

The car is very clean inside and out and has Peugeot tailored rubber mats throughout. No rips or tears to seats, no scuffs on dashboard or door cards. No dead pixels on the multifunction screen, all instruments, lights and controls work perfectly.

I have used this car for the past 3 years 10 months and in that time I have covered almost 80,000 trouble free miles at around 44-46mpg. The car is reliable to a fault and has never let me down once.

MOT test was passed today with a few advisory notices, namely that the car will need new pads and discs all round fairly soon. There are some stone chips on the bonnet and the alloy wheels have a few small scuffs.

£1500 OVNO

The car will also be advertised elsewhere but 406oc board gets first shout. I have "lurked" on this forum for the last few years and used lots of info on this forum to diagnose and remedy various little niggles. I would rather the car went to someone who might continue to look after it instead of running it into the ground!

Genuine reason for sale - I am emigrating to Germany on 15th September so I need to sell. I will be sad to see the car go as she has served me well and been so reliable.

Treble that offer and she's yours..... 8)

Have been around 8 different dealers today in and around Canterbury. 6 wouldnt touch the car with a barge pole and the other two insulted me... £225 and £249 respectively.
Thanks very much Parkers and Glass's Guide......

They take the piss mate, years ago i had a D reg yellow fiesta 1.1 and myself and the wife (that long ago we wern't even married) were at a back street jobbie near Newport looking at a car and he offered me 50 quid.

I went up the wall with him and when i came from there he said to the mrs while shaking like a leaf (I've never met anyone like him)
Well fuckingright matey my little pride and joy has only done 49000 miles with full service and you have the bastard cheek to offer me 50 notes you want to hope you never see anyone like me again.

Since then I've tried not to go to a garage with a part ex and I'm surprised he didn't try to get me banned from every forecourt in Wales. ..... Truth is we value our motors to what they mean to us and they become almost irreplacable... They on the other hand are out for a quick buck at our expense.

Sorry mate, I feel your pain I really do but I thought £1500 was asking a bit to much  .
Have you stuck it on ebay with a sensible reserve yet ? probably your best bet :) .
All the dealers are the same, they would be looking to make at least £750 on your car  .
If it makes you feel any better you wouldn't have been offered much more if you were trading in on a £5-6 k car. I've got freinds & family in the motor trade :supafrisk: .

unfortunatley french cars do depreciate rather quickly and remember a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.
I think the estates are a bit more desirable than the saloons, it is a buyers market as well at the moment.
