For Sale: 406 2.0 HDi SE (Lightly remodelled)

Post by grey »

Here we have a lightly remodelled 406 HDi SE of the 2003 variety. As you can see the drivers corner is a tad crunchier than the rest due to a disagreement with a feral roundabout that appeared out of nowhere in a dingy industrial estate.

Pre facelift the motor was as sound as the proverbial pound and even after taking the knock I drove it home without an issue. Thought I'd give you lot a punt before eBay, it's full SE spec with a half leather electric interior, all the auto bits (lights, wipers, climate) with a set of Challengers that I recently fitted along with spacers and brand new Uniroyal Rain II tyres all round.

Make me an offer if you're interested, the car is located in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

The car was immaculate before the bump without a mark anywhere on it, engine is sweet with 85k on a FSH and the interiors only ever had one person sitting on it. Damn shame what they did to that dog, but all good things come to an end.

Cheers

What sort of money are you after, I know you said offers, but I have fairly trashed rear suspension, seats, etc etc.. So I'd be looking to buy it for the good bits to swap onto mine. Also is it a 110 model?

I'll lift the bonnet tomorrow and take pics for ya. It's a 110 model and I'll throw in the Galetto tool as well as I was going to get it chipped before this happened. As for the price, feel free to make an offer that you feel is fair as I'd rather it go to someone from here than eBay.

Note, the car is absolutely immaculate and all the bits and pieces on it (suspension, tires, exhaust) are either tip top or brand new as it was SORN for 5 years and has only been back on the road a year. There's also a set of the regular SE wheels with 3 good Pirellis on (and one with a cracked sidewall) that I can include in the sale if the price is right.

This is how it looked not too long ago:

If it ends up breaking how are the doors?
I was planning to spruce mine up but they'd be a straight swap, even the right colour.

Will do, the doors are immaculate. There's no rust, marks or dents on em - even after the remodelling

Based on all the PMs I've got I think I'll just end up breaking the car for bits as most people seem to be interested in different bits and only a couple are after the same thing.

Back on Sunday with some pics of various bits as requested, thanks for all the interest.

A long time ago, in a galaxy not too far from here, I used to drive a Ford Capri but really, really liked the interior out of an RS Turbo.

Cue one sunny Sunday afternoon, a few jars and I managed to get them transplanted across and then had a professional retrimmer sort out the backs and door cards for a ton. Top notch job once they were done and bear in mind the backseats of these two cars looked nothing like each other:

Just something worth considering if you've got a retrimmer nearby, mine lived at the end of the street  And I'll say this, to this day I've never sat in a car seat as comfortable as the 90 spec Recaro:

I'm getting all misty eyed reminiscing. I was the only dude you knew that had 5 (yes, 5) of these bad boys stashed in the car to make sure I always had the freshest choons on deck:

I take it from the lack of response that you have sold the car complete.

Just filled out the SORN, have been quite busy recently and unable to update this thread.

The car is still available, I've been meaning to snap off some closeups of the wheels and related for a few people who contacted me but I've been missing the sunlight hours. Tried lifting the bonnet catch the other night when I got it and the cable doesn't work, bonnet will have to be forced up at a later date.

With all this extra running around at the moment I would be willing to listen to anyone who wishes to make a complete offer for the car and can possibly arrange delivery via truck from Newcastle as well.

I'll be checking by over the next couple of days, if anyone wants to make a quick buck or fancies helping out the folks on the board I can say that most of the parts have already been requested by a load of different people with only a couple of bits being asked for twice.

Cheers

Hi mate, no need to force the bonnet, just remove the broken / bent grill and reach in to open the catch by hand.
