Type C satnav display wanted!

Post by Fuzzdog »

Anyone got a type C satnav display out there in good condition? Mine has decided to take a trip towards the completely illegible now that the colder weather has set in.

You can simply put in a cheap type 'B' display instead if you like ( £15 or so from eBay ) Its a straight swap and you only lose the Sat-Nav. It'll be a good screen and will do until a decent type 'C' comes along ( £75 or so from eBay etc..)

This display seems in reasonable condition, its missing 1 horizontal line, but judging it by its listing picture its far better than the other displays that pop up on ebay

My display took a turn for the worse in the cold weather but has returned to normal - may just be a transient problem

Temperature seems to have a very noticeable effect on them, i notice mine looses a lot of lines on a frosty morning but once the heater has warmed things up most of the lines come back.

Sounds about right.
Mine didn't like to be too hot or too cold.

I believe the ones in the 407 have fans in them.

I saw a post on the coupé forum where someone used a tube plumbed into the climate control system somewhere to get some air flow to the back of the unit.

I think that is still a work in progress, not sure it will pan out

If these screens are going for that kind of price, I find it difficult to believe
that they are not economic to repair.

Yes it was myself that is doing the display vent. The idea is to pass enough cool air through to stop it getting too hot. Been very busy over the last two weeks so not had a chance to finish. All that is left to do is fix the pipe into the fan unit.

Trufflehunt, its not possible to repair them. It is failure of the LCD panel. I have tried sourcing replacement LCD panel from 3 companies in the far east but nobody so far has come up with anything

I may have underestimated the price - looks like it may fetch up to £120...

If only someone on the forum could successfully repair them - Jon ???
