Wanted - Roof bars for an estate....

Post by DaiRees »

That's right, the bars that go between the factory fitted roof rails. Anyone got a set lying around the garage surplus to requirements? Beer tokens waiting :cheesy: ....

Dai mun, you've got an estate, why would you possibly need roof bars. Next time your in your car, have a look at the rear window, it's probably in a diferent county.

Actually you know I take tightness to a new level..... Well with the additional sprog I figure we might need extra storage space for holidaying, and it just so happens that my bro has spent £300 on a very slick looking roof box, which I'm sure he'd lend me if I asked nicely...... Didn't want to ask to borrow his bars too though, that would just be cheeky!

Also they're just handy things to have around anyway, you know the stuff, ladders, Ikea trips etc.... I wouldn't mind getting some stuff from Bristol that's out of stock in Cardiff, and may as well take the whole tribe and make a day of it, but if I took the whole tribe I wouldn't be able to fit the stuff in the car...... :?

I've looked on eblag but I don't really like the aftermarket ones, they stick out at the sides too far, and even used genuine pug ones are fetching silly money. Just comes from the days when I used to work in Halfrauds and you could get a pair of standard bars for cars with gutters for a tenner! the thought of paying £60+ for a pair brings on tears! Might have to be Heath again and make some!

I always wondered why the rear wiper operates in a different time zone

Aye, I've been looking at roof bars too since I'm driving my 406 to Germany in the summer with 3 adult passengers, beer, tents, beer, camping stuff, beer, clothed, beer etc. The estate's boot is HUGE but we'll be taking a fair amount of crap in the back and additional beer space would be welcome, but not at such extortionate prices :/

Dai, my brother in law used to have roof bars on an orion. They were sticky out ones. But after hitting his head one too many times, he found he could cut them to length, and i'd assume there's plastic caps to go on the ends.
