hi all,

i miss my old 406, i'm looking for another one, does not have to win a beauty contest but must be sound as a pound as i do many miles & rely on it for work

There is usually a good selection on ebay, that's also where you will get the best value for money, I buy all my cars that way. Go and have a good look at it first or if you are not to technically minded take someone who is. Having said that I bought mine without seeing it because if it doesn't match the description you are not obliged to buy it. I bought my Hdi about four years ago for £950, I have done about 35k miles in it with very few problems its now showing 226k miles. They are of course much cheaper now. The really cheap ones are the pre 2001s because the tax is dearer but you should pick up a decent 2001 on low tax for £500-600, you may have to be prepared to travel though.
