Air Con

Post by KiwipugUK »

hey guys/gals does anyone have a spare aircon pipe from an HDi 406 2004. Its the one that goes from the bottom of the condenser across the bottom to a connection near/under the battery. managed to break mine when changing the condenser!! Im in North Wales, but can travel within reason :-)

I have a scrap '51 reg car which should have one but I live in Dorset. I would offer to take it off for you but at 79 I don't bend as easily as I used to.

I'm breaking an 2001 estate, I think that pipe is ok on that one but it travels further than the battery tray area. I could get it off and get it to the Bristol area no problem.

Thanks guys for the offers, I've bitten bullet and ordered one out of Peugeot. Was ONLY £68+ vat... Chances are everyone's will be in a similar state seized in the condeser as mine... :-)

First time I changed a condenser both pipes came out with little difficulty. Next attempt snapped off.
Tried removing 4 old pipes from cars in scrapyards, 100% failure rate.
Bought a new one, but wimped out of changing the whole thing, joined it onto the existing near the battery. Worked for a year.

I'd be interested to hear how you get on. I could now do with changing both pipes.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

When I had AC woes some years back I found the pipes nearly impossible to remove, and 2nd hand replacements nearly impossible to fit due to galvanic corrosion - where the aluminium AC connector plate chemically welded itself to the steel compressor, and the steel springs used in the pip-to-pipe snap-lock connectors corroded

Buying new almost certainly a good call!
