For Sale: 1996 2.0 LX - SPARES or WHOLE

Post by Blue406 »

OK folks,

It’s with a heavy heart I do this but, well, needs must.

It’s time to put my trusty old 406 Saloon out to pasture. I’m offering it as a whole or in component bits.
I would like to gauge interest from members here on the whole care of its components.

For those who don’t know, it’s a 1996 2 Litre petrol China Blue Saloon in LX trim that has done 195K. I’ll get some pics up when I get the time.
She comes with all the usual parts you expect on an LX spec 406 but with some modifications:

- GLX D8 Door Cards, with wood trim and grey velour cloth
- D9 GLX Alloys, fair condition, not mint but presentable – front tyres on legal limit
- D9 Leather Steering Wheel
- D9 Leather Gear knob
- Next to new Spare tyre on a Steel wheel
- GLX dials showing between 80 and 95K miles. Fully functional with a lot of bulbs
recently replaced
- D9 Style colour coded (China Blue) tinted glass electric wing mirrors.
- Clear indicator side repeater lenses
- D9 air con vents (with the little silver knob)
- D8 front Passenger and Driver wind deflectors.

I’m open to offers.
To snap up the car as a whole: £250
The engine is running fine. Passed emissions test in a recent MOT. Althoughthe car failed its MOT on account of several suspension parts requiring replacement costing £350 in labour and vat. New owner cannot justify this cost.

Car is in Rosyth Fife and available for viewing by arranging via PM.
Would prefer local meeting for parts etc, but might be able to sort out some shipping for some parts.

Do you have any plans to come down to England in the near future?

Not in the forseeable future no.

But what are you thinking about? Maybe I can come up with a compromise.

blower fan... too big and heavy to make it worthwhile posting. At least it shouldn't be too difficult to find at a local breakers yard

Nah, not hard at all. A quick 5 minute job to remove one actually.

Where abouts in England are you anyway? I often head down for all sorts of reasons. Might be down in January.

15 mins with my bad back and messing with any remains of car kits... I did it last weekend.
