WANTED: D9 Stereo stuff

Post by mjb »

I'm after the following for a D9 if anyone's going for a play in a breakers yard in the future:

All wiring connectors from the back of the stereo, A few inches of wire would help massively (6-12" so all the numbers are visible)
The same for the Clarion CD changer
Early D9 display (2 lines of text)
Wiring connector (and a few inches of wire)

I'm going to be starting a project to interface with and reverse engineer the VAN bus protocol. Got a stereo and changer to play with but no way to connect them up. Remember my fancy trip computer project idea I had a couple of years ago? Reckon I can craft my own missing piece of the puzzle for it now if I can get a small VAN network segment up and running out of the car

Wish you luck with that one Matt!
Won't you need the wherewithall to reprogramme the BSI to do this?
Do you have a cunning plan?
Please keep us posted.....

alladdin might have most of what you're after if you're quick.....
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)

What BSI?

AFAICT the D9 stereo just beeps repeatedly when put into the wrong car, which I can put up with when it's sitting on the desk in the spare bedroom... Once I get a microcontroller to listen/speak to the VAN bus I should be able to simulate the required BSI-stereo interaction, which I suspect will simply involve the BSI (or ECU) broadcasting the cars VIN number on a regular basis. Since the stereo's from my car, I know the VIN :) Once I'm at that stage I should be able to plug my stuff into the car and sniff out all the data I need

I hope you can sort it out - I'm interested in anything that increases our knowledge of the whole BSI / VAN bus system, partly from a desire to be able to 'uninstall' bits of it, but mostly in the hope of knowing the answers to some of the more potentially expensive problems before they happen.
