Think I'm going to wait till my Uncle gives me his though and use his for a little bit :)

£500 on top of £1,400.......... How comes mate?

I had to just see what it was like for me as if I sell my Cossie I would like a 406 Coupe. I went on Moneysupermarket.com and put in all my details for a 2.2 HDI 2002 Coupe worth £3,500. The cheapest quote was £378 which is nearly £100 more than I'm paying on my 110 HDI Estate, so insurance is a tad high on 406 Coupe's as I pay £409 for my 349bhp Saph Cossie.

I had a Renault 5 GT Turbo when I was 17 (1992) and it cost me a fortune to insure, but it was a must to own........although sold it after a few months as it was always breaking down!

Sadly this is the price we pay for all those boy racer idiots who keep writing their cars off, getting another and writing that one off too.

OK, I want one for the way it looks, colour and spec are important, not so sure whether the engine is important though.... I mean I'd like a V6 but I'm not gonna be paying that stupid tax for a post March '01 weekend car, so would I be better off getting a 2l newer one or an older V6. The ideal one would be a late 2000 / early '01 V6 but there don't seem to be many of them for sale.

A 2.0 petrol will run just like your estate so not much of that 'weekender' feeling?

I'd hold out for an old S/T reg V6 which has had it's cambelt done and lots of receipts etc. Plus her indoors won't complain too much about a sub-£1,500.00 car.

A diesel 2.2 won't be any good for weekends (they like constant use).

What with the 'budget' today there may be some V6's coming up for sale as we speak.......

With Dai's estate being a HPi, a 2.0 coupe may even be a bit slower

The coupe will be one of the few mainstream cars to make classic status.

In my perception it is, my perception is all that I know of this reality, all of this reality is all that is real, if it is real it must be true, therefore it is the truth..

Also, going on past evidence of the classy 504 Coupe.

However, the jury is out on the 407 coupe.

I reckon the Calibra will also be one for the future, in the same way of the Manta.

Bejesus man, wash your mouth out

The Calibra has only one place of recognition and that's down at the scrap yard with weird vegetation growing from it's every orifice :)

There's still a couple of Calibras floating around these parts, no rust apparent.

The jury's out on the 407 coupe

There still seems to be a lot of mk3 Cavaliers round these parts.

In fact, just 5 minutes ago I saw one driving down the road with a trailer. Looked like the sportier model (SRI or something?) but good nick, if a little too low!
