Uneven low acceleration

Post by sirwiggum »

At low revs my acceleration is a bit uneven.

The idle is fine, it sits at 800rpm and is happy enough.

Just when I go to pull out of the driveway, I put a tiny bit of gas on, the revs will go to say 1100rpm, then to 700rpm like it is about to stall, then back to 1100rpm.

I end up having to put on slightly more accleration to counter this, but that makes driving in start-stop traffic a bit jerky.

Throttle Position Sensor?
Does the HDi have an Idle Control Valve? Clean it?

Could be the TPS, MAF, CTS or maybe the IAT

The throttle position sensor is a kinda common fault and may well cause this jerkyness although it normally flags the engine light. My HDi came with a receipt from a main dealer for £67.00 + fitting for the TPS to be replaced and it started playing up again at times but not jerky.

I'd probably be get it tested on an ocilloscope [spelling?] or even just replace it?

A code read might help but it'd be at least £35.00 at an inndy and may not be as conclusive as a global test at the dealer for £65.00 :|

Cheers, some things to check (read disconnect and blast down the road) this weekend.

Diag said EGR problem. Yea I disconnected.

Looks like a dealer global is going to be the inevitable next step to solving this problem.

Annoying, as the car is running well through the rev range, just a bit temperamental at low revs.
