Hey d00ds. Her indoors' Omega is giving me an Oil Lack message. It is dripping due to chewed up threads on the sump drain, but the level is fine - actually it's been too high since Wifey's approach is just to cram more and more oil in there.
Anyway, it occurred to me today that the oil warnings key not off the actual level, but the oil pressure (if I'm not mistaken). Therefore I wonder could the oil pump be on its way out, and if so are their other symptoms to watch out for?

"Oil Lack"? That's a bit of a weird message
I think they do actually measure the oil level (parts diagrams for the XU shows some sort of tube with a connector on the end).

Indeed, was also looking at the Omega forum - I just come here first out of habit, after three years ^_^ - and they reckon there's a good possibility of a fault in the sensor or the plug on the side of the sump. Anyways, flog the ole' green meanie and I'll loads of time to work on the hateful Omega. My life is so sweet.

Re: "Oil Lack" message on the Omega
Used to get it on my Omega when the oil level was genuinely low with engine ruinning, (leaking r/h cambox syndrome, - it used to fill the plug wells too)
IIRC there's a different, equally badly translated message that come up with ign on / engine stopped

Has the Omega only got a likkle screen and that's what the weird text is about?
NO OIL might be a tad scary

Re: "Oil Lack" message on the Omega
Message has gone away now. Like I said, all I trust is the dip stick, not the computer.
This morning wifey called me round to help her manoeuvre the beast out from its boxed-in parking space. It had been parked on a fairly steep incline, nose down. As we rolled down the hill, around the corner and back up hill again the engine revved but the transmission was having a nap. AUTOMATIC GEARBOX was up on the screen.
I had her pull over and jam the hazards on, then with the handbrake applied I ran the stick up and down the positions. After that it pulled away fine. Can it be that parking the car on a nose-down incline temporarily drained oil from the slush box?
So glad we're flogging the 406 and keeping this delightful, trouble-free vehicle

Tell her you checked on the 'net and were told it's terminal, you'll just have to keep the pug
(no idea where the pump is, weren't you having issues finding the level a while back?)

It's quite impressive having a girly drive a big-dieseled Omega, kinda cool seeing girls drive 'mens' cars.
I saw a nice girly driving a 406 HDi a while back and felt a bit fuzzy about it, in my trousers.
