anyone with service box access out there

Post by gumby6371 »

Can any members with service box access please look up the part number for the alternator belt tensioner please.

I've developed a nasty rattle when accelerating while the power steering pump is active. A mechanic mate of mine told me where the tensioner mounts on the engine block the hole has elongated and with the extra tension on the new belt it's causing the rattle.

Not sure if I need to buy the whole unit as it all seems ok except for the actual mounting point.

Car details are 97 1.9td with aircon

If possible a screen shot of the components would be great.

Thanks in advance.

4 DOOR SALOON AND DIESEL XU AND AIR CONDITIONING (I presume this is the 1.9TD...)

575130 TENSION ROLLER (tensioner pulley) £97.06
575181 TENSIONNER (the spring) £82.30
575129 TENSION ROLLER (idler) £93.66

The tensioner (on the ES9J4 at least) is a substantial lump of metal and prone to corroding and seizing (long shaft so you'll never free it ). I paid the dealers price (about £120 iirc) for mine and tbh I feel quite good about it after feeling just how smoothly it operates. My spring (11 years, 180k miles) is still plenty springy enough though, but I think I need to replace my idler soon

Had a quick look on the electronic bay and managed to pick up the spring and bottom roller for £60 plus £3.50 p&p so quite pleased, thanks for the advice.
