Just because modern Saabs are a joke there's no need to assume they've always been like that. I mean, there was a Saab they made a few years back I quite liked. Now, what was it's name again? Oh yes...

To be honest it's not the brands i dislike it's the owners, the same applies to anyone that assumes that it cost more therefore it's better.

I will admit that in most cases you get what you pay for but don't feel you're better than others because you were daft enough to spend over the odds.

Perfect example is my ex-father in law had to have top name everything, bought a Sony DVD player for stupid money as it has Sony written on the front of it. Didn't play anything but perfect condition region 2 shop bought discs, I bought a £25 no name machine off t'internet plays any disc even when the kids have all but destroyed them, any format divx, mp4 etc and even has usb and sd inputs.

Know what you mean about the "name" brigade. Wont touch a product unless it has Sony/BMW/RalphLauren/iPhone/etc. emblazoned on it.

I've encountered cheapo DVD players that play anything you throw at it. Even different regions
Handy for foreign DVDs 8)

I've been moving people away from avg and the like onto MS security essentials. It does a damn good job!
This is obviously going to cause much debate as folk can be very opinionated when it comes to computers; live and let live and all that
Download the MS security essentials 2010 beta, I've run it on XP, Vista & Win7 machines with good results so far :)

I have no complaints with Avast (but I know some on here swear at it rather than swear by it)

Also, re. the Microsoft countdown inaccuracies:
