Congratulations mate, life'll never be the same again!
It was at this point that friends and colleagues started hurling nuggets of advice my way, some of them worthwhile and thought provoking, others total bollocks

, but here's the one that proved truest. A mate pointed out that at that time I was king of my castle and master of my destiny and that in a couple of months I'd be the lowest lifeform in the universe and a puppet on a string. I questioned this wisdom to which he replied "the kid will be number one, the whole house revolves around the kid! 2nd comes the Mrs 'cos she looks after the kid, then come friends and relatives 'cos they help the wife, next come the pets 'cos they help to entertain the kid and you're left right at the bottom under the flies and spiders, with any attempted contribution to the household (other than financial of course) serving only to upset the fine balance....
Another friend told me to be prepared to be regularly disappointed by the kids, I thought this was rather harsh at the time but now I see what he means. For every moment of delight (and there'll be plenty of those) there'll be moments of anguish, anger, disappointment, despair, fear, confusion... it's an emotional rollercoaster, you'll love it! Enjoy!
