Most ever miles from one tank of diesel...

Hey all, im trying to get as many miles from one tank of diesel. I brimmed the tank this morning and im going to run the pug until the light comes on. Then the challenge will be over, Its mostly motorway miles plus some a-roads.

So far im currently on 289 miles and im just above 3/4 of a tank. Rules are simple must do speed limits and air-con is switched off at all times.
Week after next going from east yorkshire to the scottish highlands so will be mostly motorways again.

I anyone wants to guess feel free the closest person to guess correct will win a wispa bar.

btw its a 1.9td saloon. Just had full service aswell.

i am just gonna guess based on the fact i get just over 500 from brim to light from my 1.8 petrol . second half of the tank the guage drops quicker ....stab in the dark at 687 miles
ps i bet i am miles out ,sober people actually try and work it out

im guessing something around 600 miles i have a hdi which in theory is more economical than the xud, but i drive about with the heated seats, and air con on most of the time and not in an economical way either so if you drive carefully id guess 650 miles

I've had 720 miles with about 5-6 litres left in the car's original configuration & would expect to get nearer 800 in favourable conditions now. (Sure I've heard of someone with self-control getting nearly 1000 out of a 110 Hdi though).

712 miles is my bid,

and i had 1324 miles out of a tank and a quarter in my now deceased 90 HDi, 1000 miles per tank was "expected" on trans euro trips .

Cant comment on a derv, but with my 2.2 Sri d9 on acrun I can get 650 miles.

Best I've done is 915 in my HDi.

Best I did in my XUD was 700, and I did manage to get 55mpg out of it on a run to St Andrews.

On a 66 litre tank:
mpg miles
40 --> 580
45 --> 650
50 --> 725
55 --> 800
60 --> 870
65 --> 940
70 --> 1015 (just for DiscoPol )

So my bid is 800.

you are forgetting the extra 7 litres that goes in when its really empty most i have filled with is 78.5 litres,

but around the 70 mpg is just about ideal

I'll go with about 720, I get 540 out of mine to just under 3/4 a tank. I do 180 miles a day for getting to and from work and every 3 days fill her up. I got 600 + and fuelled up before the light came on

around 500-600 for me, but thats town driving

obviously that figure would go up if the motorway was involved .

Due to the amazing accuracy of the fuel guage in my 1.9td D8 I usually get twice as many miles from the first half tank than the second. 4-450 town driving, 450-500 with motorway driving.
For a D8 1.9td the book says 40ish mpg on a run, judging by the fact I fill up at red light and always get around 60 litres to the brim. I would hazard a guess at 580.

You're doing things wrong if you can't beat my record of 808 miles from a tank of unleaded in my 3.0 V6 with a full load of 2 passengers and luggage filling the boot and 2/3 the back seat to the roof...
