1.9TD fuel sender unit locknut

Post by Doggy »

My bro had a fuel leak from the top of the tank from around the sender unit when he bought the car. He found the big locknut that holds the unit into the tank was broken. He tried several scrappies, but couldn't find one the same as this.
Today, he was cleaning the strainer in his fuel tank,so I took a couple of pics of the offending article.....

Does anybody either have one of these nuts going spare, or know which of the possible Pug part no.s this is?

If it is broken across the thread I have repaired these by fitting a large jubilee clip around the ring then tighten it a little, screw it on all the way, then tighten the clip up tight.

Thanks jasper - that's what he did last, (and this), time - it stopped the leak OK, but still makes it a pig to refit.

(He runs it on veg oil, so is likely to have to remove it more often than us taxpayers).

Thanks alladdin, but there's no lift pump.

Cheers, Steve - I had seen the two possibilities on SB, but was trying to find a way to get it right first time, (there being only one clear-as-mud illustration).

Yeah, I know, could be anything (isn't there a UFO pic looking something like that? :o ) Stick the chassis number in, should give you the right one.

Yeah, I did that when I got the replacement seals for my condenser pipework - fortunately I was able to re-use the old ones.
