Hmm, indeed :arrowu:

I think I may put the original one back on as this one has TOO much power. I went to Belgium over the weekend and accelerating hard from start definitely results in shakes. Not good. It also smokes quite a bit, even when accelerating normally. :(

Maybe time for a pro!

To be honest you'd probably need uprated engine mounts when you re-map a diesel as the torque is very high. Under load it is likely to be over-stretching the mounts and leading to vibration as they can't cope.

Perhaps a modicum of control when pressing the loud pedal (they have more than 2 positions... :P )

I seem to recall one of the things we usually say when trashing power commander chip thingies, is that a remap is tailored to the individual car, but now we seem to have "one remap fits all", does it matter? Should it matter?

If you want somewhere to host the Captain Jack, email it to me and i'll put it on my webspace, no worries about the link ever dying off, still got the Wiki on there but don't know if anyone uses it now!!

I was always told my Saloon smoked a fair bit, but i had heard that about the company that mapped my car. Coupe really does kick out some black stuff in 3rd, creates a nice smoke screen for me to get away :)

How can you have too much power :cheesy: Last time i had shakes on firmish accelerating (on my first Saloon) it was my driveshaft on the way......

'One map fits all' shouldn't matter to a degree, if the map was designed for a standard car then it should be very very close, one you start adding stainless exhaust, decats, induction then you could benefit from a fully customised remap, a guy on the Coupe forum has the 180 map on but is adding the exhaust and is going to decat etc, once he has done he is going to stump up £300+ to get a custom map tailored.

Another thing I worry about is smoke emission come MOT time - although I can always swap over just for that :P

I think CJ's got the same mounts I have - a standard 2.2' s 236 lb/ft so I wouldn't have thought it a problem.

That's my theory too. 8)

Oh! does that mean I have to drive as fast as granny?

I don't seem to get any smoke to speak of, except in extreme cases, people following say there's hardly any.

I am a complete noobie to this fap del/remap stuff

I have a 307 2.0 hdi 110 that really struggles (bought it with a knackered turbo - now replaced) seems to be in limp mode constantly (engine light on). Will this remap be effective for my ecu? Does anyone have fap delete software? will galletto cables be enough to use other software - ie pp2000 to read/reset codes??

Any/all help greatly appreciated

Hi & welcome to the forum. 8)

I don't think anyone on here will have personal experience of a 307, but IF it's the same as a 406, the following information should be relevant, but please understand, things can go wrong and you follow this at your own risk.....

You need the following:

1. A pc interface to upload / download files to your ecu, (I use Galletto 1260, but others have done it with KWP2000).

2. A working copy of Ecusafe to convert your existing ecu file to 'no FAP'

3. Physically remove the FAP element from the exhaust

4. Disable / empty the additive tank

5. Download the modified ecu file.

It's a toss-up whether to do it in the above order, or to go for step 5 before 3 & 4, (so you know you can do it all before smashing the FAP out of it). If you take the second route be aware the FAP will block within a few hundred miles once the sytem stops trying to regenerate it.

In most cases this seems to be it, assuming the existing fault codes are FAP related, they should disappear. If however, you're still getting problems, then you need PP2000 or similar. Another appoach would be to get the faults read first, just in case your problem lies elsewhere.

(It helps if you put your location up too, as someone nearby may be able to help).

Thanks for the warm welcome....

I am based in swindon wilts so if anyone is reasonably close by that would be a great help :)

With reference to these points.....
1. A pc interface to upload / download files to your ecu, (I use Galletto 1260, but others have done it with KWP2000).

Will either of these interfaces also allow me to diagnose faults?? told you i'm new to this!!

2. A working copy of Ecusafe to convert your existing ecu file to 'no FAP'

Where can I get one of these.

I have no problem with beating the ***p out of my fap but I would love to have all safeguards in place - if you know what I mean

Luckily, no. You don't have the pesky FAP component on your car, so you can rest peacefully  It's only for 2.2 HDI models of 406. Others, such as 307, have it on 2.0 L engines too.
