On the side of the pump (towards the front of the car) there is a large 32mm nut.
Recently my car had become hard to start and sore on fuel, but runs great when you get it going, anyways i just went outside to move it and noticed a big pool of diesel where it was parked, so i started up the engine and popped the bonnet to notice a steady stream of diesel pouring from this nut, which was very loose.
I tightened the nut, and turned the key and it burst into life VERY quickly, where it had been needed cranked and cranked for the last week or so and no more outpouring of diesel.
my question is, have i cured the problem or has something else caused this to happen that will make it come back.
cars a 1997 2.1Td executive with the lucas pump.

Re: 2.1td fuel pump question
Sounds like you've cured it, loose nut, fuel pouring out = air getting in and hard to start!
406 estate, 2.1TD, I fixed her, then part exchanged her for a Mercedes E300TD Avantgarde Estate.
Hmmmm, straight 6 goodness!
