Oh yes, I saw that in the news, the uk as one big lump of glass as they've been promising for 20 years...
Long way off that here, I think they've used up all the glass making beer bottles

Today? Stupidly sunny in the day, 20 degrees, cold at night, 9 degrees. Last week? pi$$ing down, bluddy cold, frost. Generally? Too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter

Re: A rare beauty
them people are ill prepared and should have listened to the nanny news telling them to stay indoors, i on the other hand put on a coat and a hat and walked out into the snow, let the tyres down a bit and ploughed on in the clio, come to a junction pressed the breaks and slid quietly into a hedge, and since i didnt intend to make a claim against the hedge for whiplash i stuck the car in reverse and continued on, in my car which had hovercraft handling.
Still though us peugeot drivers in the snowy and icy conditions can feel smug about our cars in that weather especially when we see bmw, merc, and lexus drivers unable to get anywhere, the bmw for a small part of the year looses its title of the ultimate driving machine

Re: A rare beauty
Unless it's ultimately driving into a ditch... I had one experience of sliding backwards down a hill and that was it for me for driving in snow, I avoided it as much as possible and walked miles instead. I remember one of my mates telling me I was worrying too much and he came to collect me in his girlfriend's Escort. He was telling me he had no problems on the snow just as he lost it on a bend and we ended up joining the pile of cars that also hadn't made it

Re: A rare beauty
The best time of the year for the hanbrake, that thing has done nothing but get me out of sh*t in the ice, just when the front of the car doesnt go the way i want, you just yank it up and the back does making it much easier to control. Of course its only a last resort but good when it stops you hitting a wall

Re: A rare beauty
I think you mean the only time of year for a 406 handbrake

Re: A rare beauty
since it will be my first december with my car i look forward to a bit of handbraking around the yard without the worries of loosening hanbrakes, if it does ill just the massey for some tractor handbrake turns.

Re: A rare beauty
I can't imagine a tractor going fast enough to do a handbrake turn
Then they've all got geriatric Zetors and IMTs round here, there's even the odd 2-cylinder Porsch from the 50s

Re: A rare beauty
The 135 is the king of the tractors although there is always a good debate on wheather its better than its predecessor the 35, i say yes because its the newer tractor, does a whopping 20mph and on the ice you just need to move to do one.

I disagree completely and regard the 35 as the king of tractors406executiveHDI wrote:The 135 is the king of the tractors although there is always a good debate on wheather its better than its predecessor the 35, i say yes because its the newer tractor, does a whopping 20mph and on the ice you just need to move to do one.
