Re: Starting to miss my 406 :(
Thats a nice looking wee car, was it originally a van or did you blank the back windows
but one thing i know from my 205 which was bought for £20 the handling was fantastic, and it took red diesel no bother. Only raced around the fields so red diesel was legal. I had it 2 years, did nothing to it but handbrake turns which did put it in a hedge a few times (i was only learning in it) stupidly i scrapped for £100 it when it was running good to buy a 305 stupidest mistake i ever made.
The gti kit with red paint great looking car.

It was originally a 1.8D Van. I fitted a 309 GTi rear beam to this, never got to drive it though to see what it was like406executiveHDI wrote:Thats a nice looking wee car, was it originally a van or did you blank the back windows

I'd love a 205 but if I'm going to be doing 40+ motorway miles every day I don't want something that tinny. Of course I could fit some sound deadning, cruiise control, big comfy seats etc etc etc

Re: Starting to miss my 406 :(
they look like good enough seats that were in it, but the standard cloth seats i had in mine were like sitting on an armchair, it got round really bumpy fields quite well one wouldnt be too bad on the motorway but obviously it wouldnt be free of wind or road noise, and from the experience of my mums 106 they get blown around in crosswinds.
My had the bumpers ripped out in a stock car manner to make way for chunky rally tyres up front and then the standard road tyres on the back it was proper fun barely any grip at the back so it always swung wide at the slightest touch of the handbrake for a 2wd car the 205 goes off road very well.

Aye! Wouldn't mind an STDT like I said. With some sound proofing (have loads of dynamat) wind noise wouldn't be an issue. But crosswinds? hmm maybe you have a point considering I'm going to be driving this every day...406executiveHDI wrote:ah right but still it looked like a good job.

Re: Starting to miss my 406 :(
whoa the boat that rocked on the road there, you get used to it though my fiat was a disaster on the motorway as is any car 55bhp, but you would put your foot down to overtake a lorry, eventually pass it with the engine screaming like mad, then get past the lorry big gust of wind and the cars steering in city mode and it goes for a swaying session. But youd eventually get used to it usually by putting the steering back into normal mode, but having said that id rather be sitting in my 406 on a motorway thats when the long wheelbase makes perfect sense.

To be honest I did have issues in the 406. This was due to the fact the shocks were a little nackered and the suspension was pretty soft!406executiveHDI wrote:whoa the boat that rocked on the road there, you get used to it though my fiat was a disaster on the motorway as is any car 55bhp, but you would put your foot down to overtake a lorry, eventually pass it with the engine screaming like mad, then get past the lorry big gust of wind and the cars steering in city mode and it goes for a swaying session. Got back after a long time. Me too going to miss my 406 in few days I guess.. decided to sell it after using it for more than 4 and a half years. However, will not Peugeots, coz I'm eyeing on an Executive this time. Will keep you all updated.
