but what if i want all this in the 406, it was all possible back in the days when peugeot was making the 406. Ive seen some of these features on other cars and also some i thought of.

One thing the 406 has that the 407 hasnt got is hidden windscreen squirters

The Coupe has the windscreen washer jets on top of the bonnet.

The (accidental) benefit of this is this makes it possible to replace the washer jets with misting jets from a Citroen, which is apparently a big improvement.

i do like parts interchangability like that, i recall a man at the breakers yard asked for the passenger side headlight for a mk4 golf, but he was told they only had a drivers side one he replied by saying, would it fit the passenger side. Trying to hold in the laughter while right beside the man was a very difficult task.

Interchangability between Citroen and Peugeot is really handy in terms of parts.

I remember putting a 306 alternator in a ZX and the clear repeaters off a D9 406 tidied up the front wings of my old Xantia.

Regarding the Golf headlights - the mk3 headlights had a sort of oval shape which is maybe why the guy thought they were interchangeable, albeit with tweaking the light beam pattern. Looking at pictures it is obvious though that they aren't perfectly symmetrical.

Low cost cars like the Dacia Logan use the same windscreen and rear screen I heard. Not sure how they get heater wires on the rear. Also the driver and passenger side mirrors are the same.

My sis-in-law here has a Dacia Logan(berry), it's the cheapest, tackiest car I've ever been in, the whole thing exudes lack of quality. The indicators sound like the sonar on a submarine, every time I'm in it I have to fight the urge to shout "Dive! Dive!"

And my suggestion is...

Obviously you'd have to have a remote control aiming system for it, maybe on this 6' sat nav screen everyone wants blocking out the windscreen with some sort of joystick control.

I saw them in Spain and had always assumed that they would have the same basics charm as the likes of a Skoda Felicia?

No point comparing them to a car like a 406 or a Discovery, but in terms of basic car I thought I might have liked it.

The worst car ive sat in was a 1994 vauxhall corsa it felt like every screw holing it together had been loosened, with such rubbish as an atoz, and a getz why they couldnt give me a panda i dont understand, and ive been in a metro and skoda favorit the favorit being suprisingly tank like. As for brutal simplicity the suzuki samurai comes with absolutley no luxuries, even less now since i ripped out the engine and heater. As for crap interior design the prize goes to all 1990s hyundais for their liberal use of melted plastics

I remember the back seats collapsing on an old 1991(I think) Hyundai Stellar my dad had (it was supposedly the new Cortina). Not in a good way like an old Merc, but in a bad way like an old Matress with rusty steel springs digging into you. Sitting in it (as you sat *in* the back seat, not *on* it) was a form of torture!

Must be where VW group got the inspiration for their uncomfortable seats from

I remember, when I was 16, my mate's dad had a Skoda Estelle (this was when Skoda's could rightfully have the piss taken) and I remember sliding into the rear seat bench (I had no choice with the shiny faux leather) and remember the almighty tapping and ticking of the poor engine as it struggled to move the car with any purpose or pace

Oh and it was f*cking yellow too

Another thing MORE POWER, peugeot have a 2.0 diesel engine with common rails, lots of electronics etc and all they got out from it was 110bhp.
More power would be nice, but don't forget that the 2.0 HDi engine we all have is still only an 8v engine & at the time that it was released (1999), 110bhp was more than most others were able to get from similar engines.

If you're comparing to the likes of the Ford 2.0TDCi & VWs PD engines that are pumping out between 115 & 150, they are all 16v engines & when Peugeot started making a 16v 2.0 HDi the power output went up to 136bhp - & that was with the bloody FAP sapping a chunk of the power too!

My 406 had the misting jets and indeed so does my 407 :D
