engine/clutch judder
i changed the clutch on my 406hdi90 but it now judders,so i took it to bits again to find high spots on the flywheel(not a dual mass)so i had its skimmed and put another new clutch kit in,it still judders but not all the time.this is a massive headache as well as annoying can anyone help ?? ps the original clutch only slipped when accelerating and did not judder.

Welcome in Jason!
I assume you replaced the release bearing?
Could be one of the engine mounts is shot and there is too much movement in the engine.

First Hello and Welcome on in
Then:
Lower engine mount would be my first suspect, to say that they are a tad weak would be an understatement.
let us know how you go on mate.

Did you degrease the clutch pressure plate properly?jasonpug wrote:i changed the clutch on my 406hdi90 but it now judders,so i took it to bits again to find high spots on the flywheel(not a dual mass)so i had its skimmed and put another new clutch kit in,it still judders but not all the time.this is a massive headache as well as annoying can anyone help ?? ps the original clutch only slipped when accelerating and did not judder.
Was it lined up correctly and did the gearbox go back in smoothly without forcing the gearbox in?
Did you tighten up the clutch bolts evenly?
Did you fit the special grease onto the clutch splines and on the release bearing shaft?
All of these can cause judder if not done correctly, but I agree about the engine mountings.

With the greatest of respect, you asked for help, so i tried to help you with my 40 years of experience in the motor trade.
I have no way of knowing who you are or what your experience/competance level is.
Why ask for help in the first place if you react like this?
Good luck with the job, I hope you fix it.

Re: engine/clutch judder
It took a good few months after I changed the clutch on my V6 (also no DMF) before the juddering stopped... Could just need bedding in?

Re: engine/clutch judder
You use a torque wrench. Very important tool.406executiveHDI wrote:how do i measure even tightness on a bolt.

Re: engine/clutch judder
Ive seen one, actually used one to change the wheel on a car, it was my uncles and he near ate the head off me for using it for that reason, so do i need to look up the correct torques for all the parts of a cars construction. eg does the pressure plate have a different torque than a head bolt.
