SORN

Post by jasper5 »

Just a warning to anyone with an untaxed car that hasn't got a SORN attached to it.....

My next door neighbour has had his daughter's car clamped by the DVLA, he thought he would not need SORN as the car was parked on his property which is on an unadopted road.
The DVLA said that they are allowed to enter private property to clamp an untaxed vehicle that hasn't got a SORN.

He had to pay £280 to get the car released.

Be warned :frown:

DVLA are not allowed on private property to clamp a vehicle, its called "trespassing" so get them done for it.

Check out http://www.pepipoo.com

Also anyone with any sense, knows you need to tax or declare sorn, it says so on the logbook.

Thanks, I'll pass the info on.

I agree, he should have done a SORN, but the car was off the public roads on a piece of land that belongs to his/my property.
He had 2 Landrovers parked there for a year without problems.

Although I agree the DVLA shouldn't be near private property, it serves him right fdor not sorning it! It takes 5 mins to do and you can even do it online!

What did he think SORN was for? Statutory Off Road Notification - Statutory - it must be done, Off Road - exactly where his daughter's car was.

My bike's SORNed, you can't get more off road than here... Btw it must be renewed every year, otherwise the bastards zap you with a fine

an offence, it doesnt really sound bad does it, an offence seems more in the scale of burping in an upmarket resturant, or flatulating in an elevator.

I was thinking this the other day when I was in the car eating lunch and the news was mentioning some murderer "was convicted of the offence".

Who was he offending? The victim?

Or is every crime listed as a personal offence against the Queen?

with an offence the punishment seems more like a slap on the face and 10 minuites in the naughty corner.
