Ignition wires

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

Ignition wires

Post by norky75 »

Hi all :cheesy: , Just purchased my first 406 (2.0l lx petrol year 2000) and the heater blowers dont work so having found this forum and alot of reading (very useful) i've narrowed the problem to being the good old trusty ignition switch, now i'm no electrician but having checked the 40amp fuse in the fascia i found it to be getting no power so i'm trying to locate the wire which comes from the ignition and powers the fuse and was wondering if anyone out there has any info in which this wire is, I have 3 plugs from the ignition one with 3 wires Red,yellow, blue (red and yellow are live but nothin from blue), theres a black wire on its own which plugs straight to fuse box ? this isnt live. also another plug with 2 wires orange and yellow i think which are both live and plug into fuse box . so surely its either black single plug or blue ? but not sure any help would be appreciated.
Great forum by the way

Thanks to all problem now resolved by running relay from ignition to blower as it was the ignition output to fuse 40 :( that was at fault
