I think its time to take my credit card to my mechanic again.
What I'm agonising over is: should I get the cam belt done while I'm at it, or just wait till next summer
Here's the job list:
Engine mounts. Very wobbly and shivers when cold. I think this is also responsible for increased juddering when under load at low revs.
Ball joint (rear). Was MOT advisory in August.
I swear my suspension is getting really noisy (all round). Anti roll bar bushes? (Drop links seem solid enough to me, which is implausible as they've been there for over five years).
Cam belt (and tensioners and water pump). Last done 5 years and 85k ago. Quoted about £500.
dont know what engine you have but if its done 85 k i would think its ready for changing if you leave it and it goes bang.................
also if you get it all done now its only one trip to the garage, and if you getting all that work done at once id ask for a discount on the price.
£500 sounds alot for cambelt, waterpump and tensioners. Shop around different garages, you'd get that down to under £400 I recon.
Cambelt is the priority I would say, then engine mounts, then suspension.
