That's the TPS/Throttle Position Sensor/Pedal Sensor, about which we was talking elsewhere.

I took Steve's suggestion and used the 10mm outlet thingy, it worked a treat, although I managed to put the 10mm drill bit through me finger , don't ask  .
Think I set meself up for the Darwin awards.
Anyhow - the missus just used it to do a 250ml return trip to see her mate down on Cornwall and it went well apparently, averaged just under 50mpg, it's first real test since I got it a month or so back and fitted the new cambelt, very happy - apart from a throbbing finger.
cheers for your suggestions.

Well done that man! 8)

2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)

Well strictly speaking it didn't actually go through, it kinda hit the bone and slid along the side, trapping my finger inside the 2" top tube of the intercooler, coz the drill bit snagged on the plastic wall and shot through much quicker than I expected. I had my finger on the inside to feel for any plastic swarf breaking off as I didn't want it sucked into the turbo.
I was pretty stoical, I only screamed once - when I tried to put the drill in reverse and back the bit out  , with hindsight, not really one of my better ideas
