Subwoofer rebuild

Post by 406BE »

heya guys, i have recently noticed that my subwoofer is taking up far to much space ( had loads op probs getting the spare tyre out :p )

its a massive stock made box with everything built in , now my general idea was to take the subspeakers out ( there are two of them, of the inverted type)
i would then work them into seperate holders that i can put in each corner of the boot.
the amp i would then put between the back speakers .

if anyone has any ideas on how to do this , or what stuff to use ...(i'm not gonna spend loads on this) just want to have a decent sound and easier accesability ^^
any ideas are welcome

Perhaps email Dr Erkine from talkaudio.co.uk for a bespoke design?

you cant just make the box smaller,, well you can but the speaker wont do its job properly

subwoofers need a certain sized box Cubic feet. so if its a pre made box its probably made to the specifications of the speaker and making a smaller box will probably not work as good

yeah, my one just hits the bottom of the top panel that supports the speakers mine are also a little smaller , i'll look up the specs and maybe get 2 single boxes , so i just disconnect and take out nice and easy

your probably best buying a double like mine altho for removing it will be easier having 2 singles due to the weight of a double

if you buy 2 singles off ebay dont pay double post charge

contact them tell them you wont pay double, you want combined postage

cos no doubt they will send it with a courier like DHL and its the same price for posting 2 as it is posting 1

thats were these sellers make cash ripping people off with post costs

there are 3 different box types for car subwoofers

1.sealed
2.ported
3.bandpass

you have bandpass, what you need to do is find out what specs are needed for a sealed box ...

every woofer should have a specification for each of those 3 types
