Right the Focus nees new track rods and an O2 sensor

The 406 needed front suspension overhaul, new seals in the fuel pump, new shocks and a new driveshaft just to keep it going for abit longer.

You know what?
The Peugeot has a leaky fuel pump.
No Glowplugs.
Running 50/50 mix of filtered and fresh cooking oil with about 3-4 litres of veg oil per tank....

You have to crank the hell out of it in the morning, but it always starts!
ALWAYS!

Y'know how Top Gear has that Toyota Hilux on a plinth in their studios as a testament to the car that just can't be killed ...?

Maybe Bailes' 406 will end up on a plinth next to it... a list of problems as long as your arm but the bugger just refuses to stop working altogether :cheesy:

70mph on the motorway the driveshaft can get abit loud

I might get some cheap glowplugs from ebay just to see us through winter. My uncle said you can get CV boots that you glue together so you don't have to take the driveshaft apart. If I can find some then I will get the split boot off, give the joint I bloody good clean, stuff it with grease and put a new boot on?

bailes your old 406 sounds like its in the sort of condition any old cars i used to rally round the fields in after i had rallied them round the fields, in fact the wee 205 was mechanically perfect after 2 years of getting the shite drove out of it, just i had crashed it many times, 205s are unbreakable nuts, especially my phase 1 diesel distinguishable mainly by the orange indicators, grey bumpers, and on the dash the heater controls were all vertical levers that was a fantastic control system and a much nicer interior than the phase 2 205s, my phase 1 interior was like the 305 even had 305 buttons any connessuer of buttons will know they glow nice and bright, the best buttons in the buisness.

Right my Dad for christmas got me a lovely set of Piper fast road cams, but having a good thing about it there going to go back. The engine isn't in the greatest shape and I don't fancy rebuilding a new head etc etc, nor do I have the money to do so.
The money I get back will be going on getting cruise control fitted as I think I'l be doing a fair wack of motorway journeys this year and it'l be nice :)

Right last week I got some more goodies...

And today I cracked on with my track rod change...

Best tool in the world for changing track rods :D

Right while I was doing this I found play in the drivers side (O/S) inner track rod, so looks like I'm going to have to change that too. Not fancying it too much though :(
The new track rods have cured my 65mph+ vibration by about 70-80% BUT it is still there but this time it dies away about 90ish where before the vibration carried on and just got worse.

Hopeing the inner track rods will fix the rest of the vibration but not holding any hope.
