and also look at the climate control its like that all the time these days, with the heated seats on constant. So i suppose the fuel consumption im getting is to be expected with the equipment im using.

Running the A/C or climate control will hit the fuel consumption fairly hard - It's the opposite here in Australia, where we usually get better economy in the winter months due to the lack of A/C which is needed!

My last tank full was rubbish, it sat idling quite a few times while I de-iced it and then there's having to have the engine running while I worked on the heater and then having to leave it idling for an hour when I changed the antifreeze, I managed to get it over 9 (>31). I filled up a couple of days back, reset the on-board accountant and then did a couple of longer journeys and it dropped below 7 (>40) but it really doesn't like the pathetically short journeys I do into town to pick the wife up or a little bit of shopping, it's already 7.2.

The thing is, I don't think I could get it as high as 18.2 (that's 23 l/100km  ) no matter how long it sat around idling or how badly I drove it - something's definitely wrong there :(

Mastiff wrote:Interesting you say that mate...... A friend of mine has an Escort Cossie running 289bhp and hers does the same as yours as in send the oil darker. Mine is a tad under 350bhp and is fine, although I change the oil every 1,500 miles and have done for the past 9 years. I have new injectors coming in February which should take her to 370bhp. I am hoping for 170mph next June, best so far is 161.2mph and 0-60 in 5.1.

T5's are fantastic!! I had an 850 T5 Estate.......What a car!! The only thing that shocked me was the fuel consumption.....How do you find yours mate?
Your cossie sounds a bit tasty 8)

The Volvo makes around 25mpg and the engine is completely standard..........for now :supafrisk:

I found less than 1% difference in fuel consumption at motorway speeds when I experimented with turning the AC off and sweating my nads off on my tubby...
<steve_earwig> I think this forum is more about keeping our cars going with minimal outlay than giving our cars more reason to go bang

so the drop in consumption is worth the usefulness of the ac.
