A belated hello

Post by JamieR »

Hi there! most newbies seem to log on after recently buying their 406 whereas I've had mine for 80k and 5 years. Bought the 1 owner 406 estate with 105k in Dec 05 for £750 at Shoreham car auctions. At the time I needed a cheap estate car as we recently had a baby and money was tight (i can't believe the mount of carp you have to lug around with a newborn!). It was a bit of a punt as the car was a late pt ex entry so it wasn't in the pre auction blurb, so I had a quick look around the car when it was in the room and decided it was a goodun as it had 4 premium tyres all round still with good tread.

I have to say its a peach of a car, very reliable and comfy on a long run and a 'stop gap' has turned into a long term keeper even though we are now able to buy a newer car. Newer '2nd' cars have come and gone (along with many issues!), but the 406 keeps on running. Not far off the 200k now!

Hi Jamie, welcome :cheesy:

What flavour do you have? It's good to hear from a happy owner, we seem to have had some real disasters lately :(

It's a 1.8 lx so fairly basic. I think thats why I haven't had a tremendous amount of issues. I was after a d9 v6 but heard a lot of stories about issues with the multiplex cars which obviously mine predates, so my 2nd car is a Saab 95 aero.
