Transponders.
I've just recently bought a 1999 'V' 406 HDi 110 Estate Exec. It was bought as a non-runner.
The person I bought it off, put another engine in it. Now it won't start.
I had a similar problem on 1.9Td Xantia I had when I changed the fuel pump. I had to fit the transponder from the original pump and all was OK.
Can someone tell me where the transponders are located on the HDi.
Many Thanks,
Graham.

Re: Transponders.
the 1.9 and Hdi are completely different engines
was the new engine's electrics all installed correctly . really if its had a new engine it needs to all be re-checked over from step 1

I reckon Gary's right, check everything that's been changed because I don't think it even has an immobiliser on the pump.

Re: Transponders.
some way to make the pump function with no immobilizer is the idea.
Re: Transponders.
If all else fails all you need to do is swop the stop solenoid on the pump for a normal one abot 5 quid on ebay run a live from posiston 2 from the key switch that should do it not sure if the energiser on the starter is imobilised as well if it is will need a feed from switch posistion 3. Worse job will be getting the bracket off the pump as these are normally put on with anti tamper snap bolts. I usually get these out with an automatic centre punch. Might be some differences on the peugeot but this is the gist of it.

Re: Transponders.
Thanks for all your replies.
Car was delivered yesterday.
Within the hour, I found an earth tag near to the ecu that was not connected, so remedied that.
I have been trawling through the various posts on here and other forums and found a reset procedure.
It involved leaving the drivers window open, leaving the ignition on for 3 mins, disconnect batt for 15 secs, reconnect batt, wait 10 secs, turn on sidelights, hold door close button on remote down for 10 secs and then start the car. well something along those lines.
I carried out the above procedure and lo and behold it actually started and ran for about 10 seconds. It was at this point I noticed that the 1/4 tank of fuel that was in the car when I viewed it was now non existant.
Also, I'm not over impressed with the battery terminals. The +ve is a quick release type, but seems too loose and the -ve doesn't seem to clamp down enough. Any ideas????
All i've got to do now is sort out the clutch problem. From what the vendor told me, it sounds like he fitted the push type clutch kit, instead of the pull type. Either that or he forgot to fit the release bearing to the clutch cover.
Again Many Thanks,
Graham.

Re: Transponders.
Hi & Welcome
Sounds like you're well on the way to sorting it.
It's possibly the wrong battery - someone cutting corners?
No idea on the clutch - jasper5's the man to ask. (It might help if you start another thread with 'clutch' in the title).

Re: Transponders.
coded fuel pumps are a terrible thing to put on a car.
Re: Transponders.
Clutch all sorted. I removed the slave cylinder and noticed that the operating lever had a lot of movement in it. I saw that the release bearing was attached to the lever but not the cover. I got a prybar and gave the lever a push away from the engine. The release bearing snapped into the cover. I replaced the slave cylinder and bled the system. Clutch now working correctly.
Now to replace the original Clarion radio/cassette with something a bit newer.
Are there any that will connect with the display in the car?
Cheers,
Graham.
