The goverment made manufacturers use a universal reader for diesel powered vehicles from 2004

Thus all 406 diesels need a dedicated reader
I believe the software is pp2000 ( peugeot planet ) and the reader is lexia

Search on ebay for cheap clones, they are just under £150
1999 D8.5 HDi GLX - Sold :(

2007 Mondingo Zetec - I seek forgiveness :( Bring back my 406

I can't remember the date for petrols, but was a few years earlier, so a normal code reader may work with them, but if it's a diesel it HAS TO BE the dedicated reader

I have tried a couple of readers on my HDi and it will sense there is one fault code when attaching either of them, but they won't read the actual code, hence why you need the dedicated reader

OBDII system to be implemented for all petrol from 2001 and all diesel from 2004. Think pugs have had the system for several years before that as the US brought it in as a requirement for all vehicles from 96, believe the earlier ones used one of the ISO code sets.

PP2000, or it'll turn its back, fold its arms and sulk.
2002 HDi 2.2 Exec Estate, (2008-12) (wonderful)
2003 HDi 2.2 6-speed Exec Estate (2012-19) (also a gem)
2009 Citroen C5 2.0 HDi VTR+ Estate (godawful heap)
2008 BMW E91 330i touring (great fun - murdered by a reversing SUV)
2007 BMW E91 325i touring (slower smoother quieter)
