Now for the latest thrilling installmant, or how Doggy takes on the T55..... and wins!
(No, not the obsolete soviet main battle tank, the pesky torx screws that PSA saw fit to attach the front calipers to our beloved 406's wiv).
As it was a fine, cloudless morning and a positively balmy -1 degree, I set about changing the front discs / pads only to find I didn't have anything to fit the caliper mounting bolts. Came back in, thawed out, booked MOT for Monday, (mainly to delay going outside again), then set off for the local motor factors / accessory shop in daughter's 206SW.....
Picks up a set of impact torx bits (up to T60, £7.99, not too bad), plus another set of flat wiper blades as the current ones are showing poorer contact after 18 months or so). 'Did you say 406, please? - that not 406, that 207', ventured the sage-like proprietor. I thanked him for his concern, observing that the ride quality of the 406 on 3 wheels and a trolley jack would probably have been marginally inferior to the '207'.
Total £28.00

Ah well, gets it done I s'pose...
Back to the Dogmobile, only to discover I still don't have a torx bit to fit - I've now got a T50 & a T60, but I need a T55!
Changed the original torx bits for a more comprehensive set, which unsurprisingly stung me another £8.
This time everything went smoothly, apart a nervous moment or two wondering which would give first, T55 bit, impact 1/2" - 3/8 adapter, 2' breaker bar, 3' lump of box tube.........but the screw undid first.
So pads out, caliper off, disc off, effortless! all back together - onto the other side, just aboput wrapped up, connecting the pad wear sensors, when I noticed one wire was too short.
Odd that these two connectors are a different colour to the other side.
Yep, plonker here's only mixed them up.

(there's 2 short wires with black plugs & 2 long ones with white plugs)
So I had to take the first set out again & put everything back the right way.
But all back together now, only leaves the rear suspension arms to swap.
One surprise - the old pads were about half-worn, after 2 years / 40k - that's really good going in my book, most cars I've had have needed front pads at least every 30k.
