steve_earwig wrote:It's pneumatic  None of them seem to have hydro-pneumatic suspension :frown:
going off topic perhaps, but its hydropneumatic in the case of most citroens hydro (hydraulic) ie LHM, and Pneumatic (air) in the form of the nitrogen gas at the top of the suspension spheres. The c4 picasso has simply got pneumatic on the rear axle as an option as you said.

Back onto the topic, a subaru estate, you still have a car but its also still a jeep as such. And they are japanese so you expect reliability.

Navara = Bag 'o Sh1te
Hilux = Had more exciting dumps
Pathfinder = Fat and lazy without the class of a range rover
Dodge Ram = just plain silly
Discovery 4 = far too damned expensive
Jeep Grand cherokee = still to see
Hyundai Tucson = ashamed to admit i even went to look at this
Merc ML 350 = ponce mobile
BMW X5 = as above

now onto something a little more sensible, im off to look at subaru and fords this week and possible a decent used discovery on thursday, i have to find something soon as the tax is up on the disco by the end of feb and the mot at the same time i think and i will buggered if im driving it back to the uk just for that.

Spares are meant to be horrendously expensive but if you're buying new this won't be a problem for a few years. Ah, there's a thought, I've heard that some parts of some cars are not covered by warranty. Not sure how much bullshit this is but my mate say his uncle had a computer failure on a Merc. and this wasn't covered.

Incidentally, before I bought the D9 I wandered into a Subaru dealer and was looking at an Outback, I got chatting with the dealer and asked him why Subaru didn't do a diesel - "It's not in their mission plan" or some such bollocks. 6 months later they started doing them  Maybe he didn't have a clue or maybe he was interested in making a sale there and then and didn't want me hanging about for months.

Dyandhi Santa Fe is meant to be a good car (I wouldn't be seen dead etc.), far less primitive than the terry tincan.

my cousin has a honda in italics santa fe. most plasticky interior ive ever seen, unlike the plastic in most cars its all textureless so it looks even worse. I dont see how a hilux can be boring theyre just another big pickup. But the subaru legacy is a nice car, my pug was from a subaru dealer, the diesels sound terrible so get a nice petrol.

Mmm, A Ford Couger or a Sooberoo Legacy might fit the bill.........

Mind you, if last night's top gear is anything to go buy then you should get a Skoda Yeti :o

out of everything that i test drove this weekend the only one that had the "x" factor for me was the stupidly silly Dodge Ram, but realistically im not gonna buy one of those with fuel getting almost as pricey as the uk now, so it may be a case of something very sensible now and when the business is pulling in more zloty get the dodge as a treat for myself, or maybe the disco 3 im going to look at on thursday will be in reasonable nick and i can haggle on the purchase price, here is hoping its in good nick.

Im looking for something that is a little bit different as i want to stick some vinyl on it and use it as a bit of an advertising tool too(yet another bit of tax deductible advice from the accountant) but you also have to think it will be my mobile office as i spend about 4/5 hours a day in traffic driving between contracts and the dodge was like a house on wheels and had the presence i am looking for as an advertising tool too. its just a shame that the smallest engine is the 4.7 V8 hemi, even on LPG im looking at about the equivalent of 35 mpg which i admit is better than im getting on the disco right now but insurance is based on engine size here so you can imagine its not gonna be cheap

I really hope the disco is in good nick when i go see it, its only done 45,000 km and is 2 years old so it should be ok.

oh and as for the Rav4 and CRV, its not the image im after im afraid
