Hello folks,
I've got a Peugeot 406 (2000 reg) with 1761cc XU7JP4 engine in it, when replacing the engine management ECU (the one that does the ignition), is it possible to get a replacement from any Peugeot/Citroen with the same engine, put the VIN code to it using Peugeot Planet then it should work? Or is there anything else that needs to be done?
Many thanks!

Re: ECU Replacements
Hi & a belated welcome to the site.
The ecu has to be 'paired' to the BSI, which I guess amounts to the same thing. Don't know of anyone ever doing it themselves.
(I've got a PP2000 system & have seen ecu status messages to this effect, but have never tried to change one).
There was a similar post for a 110 HDi a year or so back, where someone got an ecu, BSI, ignition lock, transponder ring and key from a scrapper, at reasonable cost, then used the lot on his car successfully. IIRC he wound up adding cruise, which wasn't available on his (earlier) car.
Try using the search function.
