Leasing here is a little different from what we would consider leasing in the UK, i was completely baffled by the terminology at first too.
what they call leasing here is effectively Hire Purchase of old, they will accept cars of up to 2 years old maximum and then only from Main Dealers with a warranty for the whole time of the lease deal, in my case it will be a 3 year deal with a final payment of 1 zloty as a token purchase price.
If i was to buy the car outright with cash or a loan from the bank then i would not be able to offset the cost of the vehicle against my tax liability outright, but if i take the car on a "lease deal" over 3 years i can offset the whole monthly lease cost against my tax demand, included in the lease price will be full OC+AC insurance(equivalent to fully comp) and roadside assistance and recovery.
the whole idea of the "lease deal" was set up especially for the small company or self employed over here to be able to offset costs, Poland as a nation of 38 million or so has a higher than average percentage of self employed or small business people compared to the rest of Europe, it is a result of newly acquired freedoms and abilities since the reformation back in 89, i believe that currently over 15% of the population is classed as either a small business owner or self employed thats nearly 5 million people out of a total population of only 38 million and a lot of them are old or below working age.
The term leasing is indeed a misnomer for most people, as essentially leasing is long term hire with a purchase option at the end normally, here it is simply a tax dodge.
Of course not being Polish is making the job twice as difficult when the job was already bloody difficult to start with, they love their paperwork and trust absolutely no one.
My deposit is down and the garage wont sell they car to anybody else and seem to just accept that its going to be a long process, i have heard horror stories of it taking anything up to 2 months to sort these things out before, if thats the case i will have to hire a car soon as the Disco is starting to need some tlc but i will be buggered if im gonna spend on it now when i hopefully will have a new car soon.
As for spec of the vehicle Farmer, its a C5 Touring "Attraction", cloth seats and steel wheels (my choice due to the bad roads) but with all the other extras as it was owned by Citroen as a demo car before. in Silver metallic with black interior, Cruise control, bluetooth, lane detection, park assist, yadda yadda yadda, oh and that cocky steering wheel
