Decided to buy a diesel 406 estate. Fed up with cars becoming computers on wheels and coming back to cars that you can fix and service yourself. So I have bought a 1999 D9 406 2.0 110 HDi, GTX, 48K from new 1 previous owner. Very well looked after with loads of main dealer stamps. Had a quick look over it and popped the wheels off to adjust handbrake, very impressed with it.
Will do major service at 50K, oil and filter, fuel, air and pollen, coolant change, gearbox oil replace, may treat it to a cam belt kit, water pump and AUX belt. After that the plan is for a remap, mate had a 307 HDi done locally goes well.
Present car is a 08 C4 Grand Picasso 7 seater, cant wait to get rid, worst car ever.
Have had a C5 Hdi and an 806 HDi so I know these engines, never had any issues at all.
Anyhow, good forum hope I can learn some tips from you all.

Hello, well it's not always a car you can fix yourself but it's not far off and to be fair the D9 usually behaves itself fairly well. The engine management system can be a bit secretive about faults etc, requiring a diagnostic plug-in etc

Thank you, yeah the mileage is low but genuine. It belonged to an old boy, I have the MOT's and the mileages on them tally with the service book stamps. Only thing missing is one fastner off of the HDi engine cover.
