ecu messages

I have just fitted a new rear brake caliper and after completion the car will not start and the inboard comp is saying abs system defective, any answers please

Nah, not necessary.

From your description your car is a D9 with BSI (central computer) which are very sensitive to battery voltage and kick the toys out of the pram when deprived of 12 volts.

Two problems.

The first is the ABS fault. Probably knocked the sensor when changing the calliper. The second, not starting, is probably due to a flat battery. Do you have the immobiliser light on the instrument cluster? These could be related problems - if the ABS sensor is shorting, it could be chewing the battery while the ignition's on, causing the failure to start

do yourself a favour and just get a diagnostics check.that way you'll not be replacing the wrong sensor etc.i got one & it was spot on for my abs
