Re: Im breaking a car

Post by FarmerPug »

great stuff hope they do the trick.
Show us a pic when they are in.

Im trying now to get the altenator out. How do i do that, theres a bolt thats hard to get below that thing on the top of the altenator which was spewing a lot of oil out earlier on.
I also want to take out the injectors again how do i do that.
And whats that thing on the right of the engine beside the rocker cover.

Also i was selling the BSI ECU pack. The first buyer i rejected because they were from spain. Now some complete c*nt has done the same thing this time from trinidad. It stated Postage to UK addresses only. But yet that happened, so i contacted them, they said the wanted me to send it to an address in london, i havent got payment

Now more in this drama, the seller said they wanted it sent to a london international courier service.
So now they have paid and ive got an address for me to send it to Connoisseur International Distribution of west drayton middlesex.
Ive contacted ebay on the issue but its late so ill probably get a reply tommorow.
Its a bit fishy. A few years back some twat bought a camera off me only £10 their address was in bulgaria so i said no way am i posting it, so i got a friends address, sent it to that address but it apparently never arrived, and i was made do a refund. Hence my suspicion.
Also adding to my suspicion is that this is from a RHD car i dont even know if parts like the ecu and bsi work in a LHD car.

Any experiences.

you will be made to refund for this. once the courier have it . that only covers you to them cos thats who you sent it to.

once the courier take over you have no proof of the parcel and were it gets to.

personally i would refund them now and keep the item cos you will loose out.

its a scam. they know you have no proof from when the courier take over, when ebay asks you for tracking you have proof that it only got to the courier and no thurther

unless you can get proof from the courier your gonna get scammed . is a common scam,

i tackled the buyer about what fact of postage to uk addresses only they found hard to read got this back:

Hi,
I have an arrangement with a courier service that has an outlet in London. This is the address that I would be requesting that you ship to.
I don't anticipate that this arrangement should be a problem.

I told him that i contacted ebay and awaited a response

The buyer replied with

Hi,
I have made the final payment and changed the shipping address to my UK address. I hope this is ok.

So i replied with:
I have had problems in the past with arrangements like this. I will need more details on this company, a website and a telephone number, I will have a signature request on the package, and it will be tracked by royal mail. I shall also be getting a proof of postage receipt when i send it.

Im being firm about this, im not getting pissed about, it costs too much for a scam, and there was the whole effort i put into getting these parts out and packaged. I didnt even charge them much £60 for all that kit undercut most other stuff on ebay by a good amount. So ill be waiting on ebay.

Well ive done some sums to evaluate breaking a car
The car cost £250, and i got £20 back for luck so £230 now heres what ive made postage deducted:
- Loose Change £8
- Seatbelts £15
- Wing and IC £55
- Courtesy Lights £5
- Indicator Stalk £5
- Wiper Stalk £5
- Handbook £4.68
- Wing Mirrors £4.20 (a bit of a bargain for the buyer)
- Bsi Ecu Kit £60 (although a potential scam)
- Fuel filter housing £10
- Tyres £50
So currently the car owes me £9.32 but considering ive got myself a box of rivet clips, headlights, windows, footwell trim, altenator and a few other bits, and a better knoledge of how to work on my car. Its not bad.
And then there is the value of scrap at the moment.
Overall im quite pleased with it.

You seem to have done ok with it so far.

Have you thought about stripping all the ancillaries off the engine block (and keeping them to one side) and then selling the engine as a block? someone who's had a recent head gasket failure or snapped cambelt would be quite pleased to buy it and fit all their bits and pieces to it?

Also the gearbox should be worth a few dollars?

I think he said he was going to keep those in case he wanted to replace the ones he took an angle grinder to. I could be wrong of course.
