Oh dear highlander, I wonder whether you're best just to get shot of it as it is and put it behind you? it may not be worth all that much even with a full MOT? if there's body damage then you'll always get knocked down on price - you might only be able to sell it for £300.00?

Which is less than what I'm looking at for cost of the repairs (114 + VAT for tyres, 176 + VAT for other parts, arm/leg/nut + VAT for 3.5 hours labour costs).

Oh well. Guess the old girl's going to the scrappy :( I'll give them a call a bit later on.

Will also give my local Powerflow dealer a ring and see which bits I should be rescuing for future fitting to the Coupe (I don't have a trailer or an estate, so it won't be the complete system, unless I can persuade the scrappy to carefully dismantle it).

Bad luck Highlander :(
Though at least you do still have the gorgeous Coupe.

Maybe you could chance selling it on gumtree? I've seen worse condition cars advertised as "woulding take much fr mot"....

Good luck Gary too, don't want any more bad news on the thread.

well my car also failed its test today.

Refusal of an MOT test Certificate.

001 Parking brake lever, pawl mechanism pivots or their associated mountings are insecure

002 Nearside headlamp aim aimed so that it dazzles other road users

bulbs are those cheap sh*t xenon look ones.

handbrake ? any ideas ? my handbrake is loose from side to side there is a lot of movement in it. what secures the lever ?

Advisorys item - offside and nearside droplink ball joint rubber covers split

If you look in one of those "how to remove centre console" threads in the Knowledge base you will see how the handbrake lever attaches, it's got 2 nuts holding it to the floor.

The Hyundai i took this morning failed as well....on a front tyre..... bloody tyre was in a shocking state for a first mot 2008 car.

Nice one.

Good to hear an easy MOT fix!

I always wondered that, should the light aim setting be on 1 if there is yourself in the car? (NI MOTs are drive through affairs).

Got to confess, I never touch that dial

On the Coupe, at least, there's a dash between 0 and 1. I keep it on the dash, and nobody flashes at me. Is that wrong?

i leave it on 2 so its facing down and doesnt blind the driver in front of me. but MOT man said it should be set up on 0.

then you can adjust it down and back to 0 were 0 is the right road hight

i often use it. but mainly i put it on 2 so the lights are pointing down. so i dont blind the person in front.
