A friend of the family is desperate for a 7 seater so he's offered me his 51 plate HDi 90 saloon in a straight swap for my D8
apparently it runs suberb apart from an indicent about 6 weeks ago when it cut out all of a sudden when driving but started straight up again, its been stood ever since, however was started up at the weekend and ran fine with no problems
Should I be dubious or is it worth a look? To sweeten the deal he's also offered me a 42" telly aswell thrown in for good measure
I'm temped to say the least as i'm sick of putting petrol in mine
Cheers for the thumbs up chaps, Ive arranged to go and have a look at it tomorrow or Wednesday as he's working away until then, all I basically know about it at this stage as its a 51plate HDi 90 in silver, and it's a saloon
I'm very tempted as to be honest i'm struggling to afford to run mine, I put £35 in it last week and barely did 125 miles running around the doors and I ran out of petrol yesterday and had to walk 4 miles to a garage with a jiffy can, not fun
I put £25 in last week, when i put it in said to myself this is the time, i will now drive economically.
But as usual 5 minuites of eco driving makes me worse and i plant the foot. But even so It hit 130 miles before saying give me fuel, there is 50 miles after that.
Im very pleased with this, it will last to the end of the week £12.50 on fuel per week.
Gotta say the HDi does seem incredibly economical. I know lots of people with modern diesels that can't get 50mpg+ out of them. I'm having this dilema at the moment, i'm getting 33 consistently from my petrol engine, if i was to go to a diesel I'd want to see at least 50, but friends with mondeos and insignias aren't getting more than 40, not worth the extra expense IMHO.
I don't think we can talk about fuel in terms of money anymore with the way the prices are going up. £10 of juice now will get you 10 miles less than it did a few months back. My last fill up was £85 and that got me 465 miles, it's not that long ago that would've cost £60

Im in the same boat here as well, the fuel cost is less than the uk but for most Polish workers on lower salaries the cost of fuel here is scandalous, Im looking at a new lease car very soon and want a citroen c5 mainly because it has the HDI lump in it, i would like to look at other marques but you just cant argue with the frugal nature of the HDI.
If i was you i would go for it it sounds like a good offer.
My car always seems to do 41.5
That's a 110 remapped to 140, decat'd and with a Powerflow from a V6
As long as I don't do 90, it doesn't "seem" to matter how I drive
Looking at getting a later car and WAS hoping to get nearer 50 out of it
