Name that connector?

Post by bytecode »

Hi again, sorry - I meant to ask this earlier but I forgot (whoops)

Please could someone tell me what the purpose of this brown & purple connector might be?

I found it dangling down in the O/S front wheel arch of my 406 HDi 90 Rapier Estate, by the screenwash bottle.

I'd love to be able to re-connect it correctly, if necessary,

Thank you,

:-)

My guess is that it's the connector for cars fitted with headlamp washers?

ah - not a "luxury" that this one has :'(
do we have any other "bids"?
Maybe I could use it as a trigger for James Bond/Condorman machine guns instead then ;-)

Well, it would be a luxury but seeing as about 90% of 406 headlamp washers cease working then..... :|

Correct! it goes on the 2nd pump (when fitted)on washer bottle to power the light washers on mine.

No - That's the side that has a working fog light!
(The fog on the otherside appears to have been "smashed out" - I suspect that the previous owner hit a badger/fox/breeze-block/Clarkson which not only took out the N/S front fog but ripped the back box off the exhaust).

The fog connector is similar but appears to be blue.
I spotted it hanging down on the other side of the engine bay, where the non-existent N/S front fog /should/ be.

Does anyone know /why/ they cease working? Are they the old mechanical "pop-out and spray" like a "multi-purpose massager" device ;-) type?

Sadly, I'm not so "blessed" as some of my fellows here... *sniff* if only I were so well endowed...

Thank you for the confirmation chaps/chapesses...
I'm relieved that it's not something that I need to worry about.
Back to worrying about the waterpump, oil etc... ;-)
Thank you all once again :-)
You've put my mind very much at ease.

Dunno, and yeah they should pop up n squirt ..mine dont work(retro fitted)-had to turn them on wiv pp2000,still dead!! but when i can be arsed,im gonna delv in,disect the pump and see what jack frost and sludge has done to it.
Then if working re-aim the jets 90deg to the nearside and shoot traffic wardens with mouldy water....

I thought they work on the amount of water pressure - could be based on the pump, the piping or the amount of water pressure in the system!

They work on water pressure and larger-bore hoses, mine used to extend majestically if you pulled them out by hand but the pump never worked - I don't know if the pump fails or a fuse somewhere (maybe when they freeze in winter?) anyhow others on here said that they are only any good at leaving a dirty splash all up yer bonnet so I just left them be :|
