electric windows not working

Talk about the 406's electrical system, what wires do what, how to add extra functionality, etc.

I have a 1999 406 2.0 executive estate which I bought recently without a hand book. the front passenger side electric window does not work also the rear wiper does not work, could this be a fuse problem if so what fuse is it

check the fuses in the fuse boxes. under the steering wheel and in the engine bay.
i cant say which fuse it is because my manual is for a diesel 406.

also you need to do a few other tests. a multimeter on the motor wires to see if there is power to it. if there is power to it the motor will be dead.
this requires removing the door card and getting into the motor inside the door

same for the back wiper. you need to do the multimeter tests to see if there is power at the wires .

the window problem could either be the motor or the switch.

1999 puts it right in the middle of the restyle but, as far as I can see, they are not on the same fuse, and it's the same fuse for both front windows.

The rear wiper motor on my D8 came seized (and broken  ).

+1 ish
As above but mine was an early D9, seized solid on the shaft, bloody galvanic reaction leading to bi metal corrosion, scrappy is the best bet if you can check it there if not its a simple plug and play check back on the car.

Windows............ haven't got a bloody clue sorry :|

Seems to be 29 on the D8, unfortunately no-one has uploaded the schematic for an early D9

Fecking enormous hint

The diagrams in Autodata I have no idea about, seems to be either 5, 13 or 27

Sorry, I mean a fuse layout diagram with a numbered list, like what's in the handbook. Me too, however I haven't come across an early D9 fuse diagram in any language (and I'm 90% sure they're different).

I have looked at the fuse box and it is not the same as in 1999-2004 406 handbook or the haynes manual so I havn't a clue of what fuse is for what

Sounds like it's still a D8, which is fuse 27 as above. Still, if the driver's side window works it's unlikely to be the fuse. Does it not work from either switch? Any noises from the door when the switch is operated?

inbetween the door and the pillar ?
