Hello!

Post by CalamityJames »

Hi all,

Just thought I'd post up to say a quick hello! I've just been given a 406 2.1TD as a daily driver by my uncle (for some reason he prefers his 307 SW HDi 110 which has cost him £2.5k in engine issues over the past year!).

It's done 135k and still going strong, got plenty of service history etc, only downside is he used it for work, so there's stains on some of the seats!

I'm no stranger to XUD powered cars though, my parents have had a BX17, Citroen Xantia, Peugeot 405, my uncle has had another D8 2.1TD prior to this one, and myself and a friend spent last year fitting a 306 XUD9 to his 405 cos the turbo and headgasket went!

I keep telling myself I'll keep it standard as it's my daily workhorse after I realised having an MR2 for work is a) impractical and b) expensive, but I'm sure I'll catch a bit of a modding bug soon, I always do, already looking in to what can be done to the engine!

I'll try and get some pics up when the weather clears up :)

Cheers,
James

Thanks for the welcome :) How easy was it to de-FAP your HDi by the way, my uncle's 307 2.0 still keeps going into limp mode with "Antipollution fault" or some such message, I'm sure he'd love to know how to remove it altogether! :)

Haha, I haven't actually, my name came from my old housemate, as he said I was very accident prone!

I've got an explanation on my blog http://www.calamityjames.co.uk/why-calamity-james/ :)
